My big competition for the year will be in Mission Viejo, California at the 2019 Summer Masters Nationals. My competition schedule has expanded from two years ago.
I will swim all the backstrokes(50,100,200) and sprint freestyles (50 and 100) and 50 breaststroke. My focus is 200 back and 100 free. I am looking to break 2:40 and 1:02 respectively.
My taper plan starts on July 24th. After the first summer league competition my plan is to swim short course yards Monday and Wednesday and long course on Friday. I contacted my old college coach about his thoughts on swimming a competition on Friday the July 26th. He advised against it.
I took off weights this week and slept in. My yardage drop will be small this taper. I will move from 2000 to 1400 yards over the next two weeks. I will go longer rest periods and aim for more race pace speed per swim. One thing that can effect the first week of the taper is my all night change on July 28th for work.
